Gentlemen start your engines!

My Senior Capstone will be a documentary depicting the manufacturing of the sports car Shelby Cobra 427.

What will make my documentary differ from other's is showcasing the State of Utah's involvement in creating this slices of Americana.

Presentation Objectives: 1.) Explain who Carroll Shelby was. How did this chicken farmer from Texas become famous in the sports car world, and how did he create his business of manufacturing his own cars? 2.) (If i'm lucky) I want to fallow how these handmade cars are produced. Starting with a buyer placing an order, then concluding the documentary with the owners first ride after it has been completed. 3.) Document and tell the story of Kirkham Motorsports, a Provo Utah company that is now the manufacturing supplier for Cobra bodies. Kirkham produces Cobra bodies and create their own Cobra's. They also ship bodies and chases to Shelby American in Las Vegas to be completed in Carroll Shelby's personal factory.

In February I reached out to Shelby American to ask if the company would be OK with me filming my Senior Capstone on their factory. I received a text from Jonathan inviting me to send him an email with the details and they will see what they can do.

Interviews at the factory/ museum. This is the image template that I would like to use for interviews with employees and mechanics at Shelby American. Lighting will be a even beauty light on the subject. The car in the background will have lights that will make the paint bright and glowing. This Blue GTE in the background of the pictures is a good stand in for a Cobra 427 roadster.

Interviews at DSU Studio/Hanger. We would like to have owners of a car come to the hanger and be interviewed about their car in this lighting and color style. Obviously we would probably have the hanger doors as our background.

Interviews with Shelby American Historian. We are not totally sure if Mr. King is available for our film. But if he is, I would like to have him in a very formal black background setting. We would like Mr. King to talk about Carol Shelby and how he started his racing career and stories of how he came to create the Cobra 427 roadster.

These pictures are of different cars that are on display in the Shelby American Museum. I would like to have as B-roll footage, dolly track shots of the different Cobra's and highlight them and the details (like the one of a kind Cobra emblem). Including interior shots and close ups with various lighting techniques.

Main Footage and heart of the documentary will be centered around the factory. We will cover the entire process of the Cobra roadster being manufactured.
